I’m a horrible blogger. I really am. I’ve been slacking so much lately, but it’s not my fault. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and the New 3DS came out on the same day. Up until now, I have pretty much hated my 3DS. There were a few reasons, but the main ones were my particular 3DS hurt my hands, and that the 3DSXL made the games look even worse than they did on their native 3DS screen size. When I say it hurt my hands, I mean that my special edition Pikachu 3DS has a sharp “lip” where the bottom plastic literally carves into my fingers the way I hold it. My girlfriend’s blue 3DSXL doesn’t do this, but it did have the same shitty graphics thing going on. So, how do I like the N3DSXL? It has become my daily commuter in place of my Vita.

Now, that’s not to say that I don’t still love my Vita, but it is to say that I realy like Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I have not played anything but this game since last Friday. Before that, I was gearing up for the upcoming Vita game, Toukiden Kiwami by playing the shit out of that. Needless to say, the hunter/raid genre is my favorite. As such, sometimes I play games for enjoyment rather than to review them. When I get caught up in these games, very little work gets accomplished outside of them.

Even so, I have to get on the ball. I just received my review copy of Hyperdimension Noir, so I will be playing this in between hunts. For a short answer to the question, “Should I get Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate?”, Absolutely. If you’re a fan, get it. If you kind of liked previous ones, get it. If you were disappointed with the previous 3DS installments, get it. If you’re new to the series, this is the best game to start with as they made it stupid easy for new comers while keeping the difficulty fans have always craved. If you hate the genre, why are you asking this question? Go play Madden or Call of Duty.
