• Lost Dimension

Lost Dimension is very good for different reasons you might find in most SRPGs. For starters, the strategy is there, but it’s not exceptionally difficult. You just need to win in a timely fashion to get that S rank that earns you free gear (usually potions and shit). Your allies can die, but allowing them to fall in combat might alter their opinion of you. The main draw to the game is the Danganronpa aspect. The story has your characters, special individuals with unique powers, trapped in a tower that is believed to have been created by a psychopath that calls himself “The End”. When you get to a certain…

  • Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc

How does one review a game like this? To tell you the truth, I’m really not sure. I’m limited in what I can say because so much of the game relies on the player not knowing exactly what’s going on. It’s not exactly the type of game most people will play through multiple times unless you’re the type that watches anime seasons multiple times. You see, at it’s heart, Danganronpa is a Visual Novel with real-time exploration and investigation and courtroom battles similar to those found in the Ace Attorney games. At the request of the publisher, I will not discuss anything beyond the first chapter, but I will try to…

It has been over a month since I last updated the blog, and I am very sorry for that. Between work, visiting my mother, and attending my weekly fighting game meet ups (which, admittedly have a priority in my life), I’ve had very little time to update the site. I have a couple finished reviews that I will be posting over the next week or so. That’s it for the blah blah update. Onto the games! In the last month, my portable gaming has taken a bit of a hiatus, but I have been playing Danganronpa enough to review it, and I downloaded and played both demos of Conception II…

  • Now Playing #8

Last time we met, I was having a hard time playing anything buy Toukiden. That hasn’t changed much, but I have been spending some good time playing Danganronpa, as promised. So how is it? That’s difficult to say. For starters, I’ve been sworn to secrecy beyond the first chapter. That said, I haven’t made it very far into the game. It was difficult to begin as there is a lot of dialog, and I was used to the fast-paced action of Toukiden. The story is incredibly slow to start. Think of it like an anime with an uninteresting pilot episode. Like many of those anime with slow or uninteresting pilots,…

If you’ve been reading along with these updates, you know that most of the games I review are ones I buy myself. Of course, from time to time, I’ll get review copies sent my way from the developers. Toukiden is not one of those review copies. Instead, it has proven to be a real distraction. I am supposed to be playing Danganronpa, Sorcery Saga, or Lone Survivor (All of which I enjoy), but since Toukiden has found its way into my Vita, I haven’t been able to focus on those other games. I am really enjoying this game immensely. Toukiden has really been scratching a certain itch; and itch that…
