• Now Playing 9/3/14

New format for my Now Playing updates. After reaching #10, I figured I would start dating these. So…here we go! This week has brought me a lot of things. I’m finishing up Danganronpa 2 and should have the review ready this weekend. PS+ just dropped a bunch of games into my lap as well including Velocity 2x, Don’t Starve, and Joe Danger. I’ve got a review cooking for Table Top Racing, Injustice Gods Among Us, and the phenomenal Rogue Legacy. If you’re debating any of these titles, I would have to say that Rogue Legacy takes the cake for action games while Don’t Starve is a wonderful survival and building…

  • Disgaea 4

If you’re a fan of SRPGs and anime, you surely know about the Disgaea series. Many gamers consider Final Fantasy Tactics the game which all SRPGs are to be compared to, but Disgaea fans might beg to differ. The biggest reason that may be is the overwhelming number of things you can do post-story. The PSP and Vita games have always added all of the console DLC and sometimes even more extras. Disgaea 4 is no different. The vita version even adds the cheat shop from D2, Petra class spells, the ability to bribe the dark senate, the event viewer, and the ability to change weapon appearance are bundled up…

  • Akiba’s Trip Undead & Undressed

Akiba’s Trip is a story about a guy named Mile McMittenhands who nobly runs around Akihabara beating people up until their clothes are good and stinky whereupon he proceeds to strip them to their skivvies so they will suffer the full wrath of daylight, bursting into purple flames. The only untrue statement in the previous paragraph is the name of the protagonist whose real name is Nanashi. I call him McMittenhands because that’s exactly how all of the characters’s hands are handled. Frankly, I like the approach because it look to be more of an art design choice where having the fingers drawn on would appear lazy. As it stands,…

  • Noreve iPad Air Case (Tradition B)

I’ve been seriously delaying this review because I’m not sure how to adequately evaluate it. I was going to write an article about multiple cases, but I only managed to get two. The Tradition B is an amazingly thin, but hard case. It covers both the rear and the the screen while the magnetic snap is closed. The binding is to the left while in portrait orientation with a snap on the right. The outside has a quilted texture that seemed a bit feminine at first. After asking a few people what they thought of it, they said it looked more high-class than feminine. I asked both men and women…

  • Soul Sacrifice Delta

I tried hard to like the original Soul Sacrifice. I tried to get my girlfriend and my friends to get into it, but ultimately, there was just something missing. As it turns out, there was a lot missing. Delta has included all of the things I wanted from the original and a few I didn’t even know I wanted. I’m going to assume that you, the reader, hasn’t played the original game for a moment. Soul Sacrifice Delta is in the action sub-genre many refer to as Hunter or Raid. What that means is most of the game consists of you fighting a large boss fight alone, with an AI…

  • Now Playing #10

So…Soul Sacrifice Delta is a thing. It’s been consuming my soul like a top sorcerer of Avalon. I was extremely apprehensive about this game as I found much of the original flawed. If you completed the first game and were worried about lack of content, fear not. Not only did they add the Grim faction to cover the neutral path, but they’ve actually added some content to the original Avalon story and added complete story paths for both Grim and Sanctuary. I’m going to cut it off there before I go into full review mode. Needless to say it’s going to have a pretty positive review, so if you’re on…

  • Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God

Let me preface this review with the fact that I don’t usually care very much for rogue-like games. I had hoped that Sorcery Saga was different. Is it? Well, yes. Did it convert me into a rogue-like devotee? Not really. Starting this game is extremely long-winded. Tutorial screens are abundant in the first couple hours of this game. As Pupuru, a carefree sorceress who comes upon a magic cookbook and a strange cat…bunny…thing named Kuu. It’s a good thing she found that book because a major curry house has just moved into town and is threatening her favorite curry shop. Maybe with the special ingredients from the book, she can…

  • Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc

How does one review a game like this? To tell you the truth, I’m really not sure. I’m limited in what I can say because so much of the game relies on the player not knowing exactly what’s going on. It’s not exactly the type of game most people will play through multiple times unless you’re the type that watches anime seasons multiple times. You see, at it’s heart, Danganronpa is a Visual Novel with real-time exploration and investigation and courtroom battles similar to those found in the Ace Attorney games. At the request of the publisher, I will not discuss anything beyond the first chapter, but I will try to…

  • Now Playing #9

It has been over a month since I last updated the blog, and I am very sorry for that. Between work, visiting my mother, and attending my weekly fighting game meet ups (which, admittedly have a priority in my life), I’ve had very little time to update the site. I have a couple finished reviews that I will be posting over the next week or so. That’s it for the blah blah update. Onto the games! In the last month, my portable gaming has taken a bit of a hiatus, but I have been playing Danganronpa enough to review it, and I downloaded and played both demos of Conception II…

  • Now Playing #8

Last time we met, I was having a hard time playing anything buy Toukiden. That hasn’t changed much, but I have been spending some good time playing Danganronpa, as promised. So how is it? That’s difficult to say. For starters, I’ve been sworn to secrecy beyond the first chapter. That said, I haven’t made it very far into the game. It was difficult to begin as there is a lot of dialog, and I was used to the fast-paced action of Toukiden. The story is incredibly slow to start. Think of it like an anime with an uninteresting pilot episode. Like many of those anime with slow or uninteresting pilots,…
